Certificates and
documentation
Certificates and documentation are part of the strainer: material certificate, design verification, operating instructions, declaration of conformity. What you need must be settled before manufacturing – some records cannot be obtained afterwards.

Why certificates belong in the enquiry
An inspection certificate 3.1 certifies that a specific component comes from a specific heat and meets its values. This requires the material to be traced with its batch from the start – from goods receipt through cutting to the weld seam. If the certificate is only requested after manufacturing, this assignment can no longer be established.
The same applies to a TÜV inspection: it is carried out on the open, still inspectable unit and has to be scheduled into manufacturing. That is why our enquiry form asks for the certificates right away. Tell us your requirements with the enquiry – not with the order, and certainly not at the inspection.
- Inspection certificate 3.1 to DIN EN 10204
- TÜV inspection by appointment
- Design and manufacture to PED 2014/68/EU and AD 2000
- CE marking with declaration of conformity
- Certificates bilingual in German and English
- Data sheet, approval drawing and operating instructions
Certificates and documents
What is supplied is defined with the enquiry.
Inspection certificate 3.1
the material certificate
To DIN EN 10204, it certifies the values of the heat used for the pressure-bearing and wetted components – housing, cover, flanges. On the enquiry form it is pre-printed as “material test 10204-3.1 B”. Also available as a material certificate for the wetted metallic components only, bilingual in German and English.
TÜV inspection
inspection by an independent body
The second certificate pre-printed on the enquiry form. The inspection takes place on the unit while it can still be inspected and therefore needs a slot in production planning. Tell us early whether an inspection is required – and whether you or we commission the inspection body.
Design to PED and AD 2000
with CE and declaration of conformity
Pressure-bearing strainers are designed to the Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU; the calculation follows the AD 2000 code. The note “Design and manufacture to PED AD 2000” is standard on pressure-bearing strainers. If the unit falls within the scope of the directive, we supply CE marking and the declaration of conformity.
Data sheet and operating instructions
the documents for the unit
Data sheet, approval drawing and operating and maintenance instructions are included in the scope of supply. On request, we supply them as a complete package, entirely in English. For operation, the maintenance instructions are the most important part: they describe screen replacement, gasket replacement and tightening torques.
Tests and reports
what is measured and recorded
Pressure test with report for pressure-bearing assemblies, leak tightness test on valves to EN 12266-1, coating thickness report for coated housings. For bought-in measuring instruments, their own records are added – test report 2.2, calibration values and, where available, approvals such as SIL or DNV for offshore.

A 3.1 cannot be issued retrospectively
This is the most common and most expensive misconception about certificates: an inspection certificate 3.1 is not a document that is simply printed out at the end. It links a specific component to the heat its material comes from – and this chain only exists if it is maintained from goods receipt onwards. If the housing has been welded and coated without the batches being recorded, the only option left is to build a new one. The same applies to the TÜV inspection, which must take place on the inspectable unit. So state the required certificates on the enquiry form – the two most common are already pre-printed there, and the “Other” field is available for anything else.
Frequently asked questions
Yes, and the approval drawing is itself part of the documentation. Before production starts, you receive the design draft for approval; only once you have confirmed it does the order go into manufacturing. The approved drawing is returned to you with the documents.
Certainly. Specifications, inspection and test plans or your plant’s documentation requirements are the best basis. Our design engineers adopt your specifications and adapt them where manufacturing or the code requires – we agree any deviations with you in advance.
A test report 2.2 confirms values from the manufacturer’s routine production control, without reference to your specific item. An inspection certificate 3.1 is assigned to a specific component and its heat and is confirmed by the manufacturer’s inspection representative, who is independent of the manufacturing department. Where batch traceability is required, you need 3.1.
German and English are possible, also bilingual in one document. A complete documentation package in English is also possible. Please state other languages with your enquiry.
AD 2000 is the German code for the calculation of pressure vessels – wall thicknesses, reinforcement of openings, flanged joints. The Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU sets the requirements; AD 2000 provides a recognised way of meeting them. Both references appear on our pressure-bearing strainers.
For units that fall within the scope of the Pressure Equipment Directive, yes – with a declaration of conformity. Whether your strainer is covered depends on its classification by pressure, volume and medium. We clarify this during the design and record it in the drawing.
For the inspection certificate 3.1, usually not: it requires batch traceability from goods receipt onwards. The TÜV inspection must also take place on the inspectable unit. Documents such as the data sheet, parts list or a translation of the operating instructions, on the other hand, can be supplied afterwards.
We hold SIL and comparable certifications for bought-in measuring instruments, not as an approval of the strainer housing itself. If your project places a requirement on the unit itself, please state it specifically – we will then check what can be achieved and tell you openly if it cannot.
The two pre-printed on the enquiry form are material test 10204-3.1 B and TÜV inspection; in addition, there is the “Other” field for anything else. Which further certificates are required depends on the project – tell us your requirement and we will tell you how we meet it.
