Replacement
Replacement strainer baskets for other manufacturers’ strainers
A strainer has been running for twenty years, the housing is in perfect condition – but replacement strainer baskets can no longer be obtained. Then the question arises whether the entire valve has to be replaced.
Usually it does not. We replicate the wear part: same dimensions, same fit, mesh size to your specification. We do not need a nameplate for this – the dimensions of the old part are enough. On request, we also supply the matching gasket.
The situation
Why the replacement is often more difficult than the unit
Strainer housings last for decades. The parts inside them do not – and they are exactly what nobody supplies any more after a while.
Range discontinued
The unit is no longer built, so the accessories are no longer kept in stock either. That does not make the valve itself any worse.
Manufacturer no longer on the market
Takeovers and plant closures cut off entire spare parts lines. The housing in your line notices nothing of this.
Minimum quantities
Some suppliers will not set up production for a single element. We also manufacture single items.
Documents lost
Without a drawing and nameplate, the search for the article number becomes a dead end. With the old part in hand, it is unnecessary.
Basis
Three routes to the right part
Depending on what you have available, one of these routes will lead to the goal. The first is the most reliable.
- The old part as a sample. We measure it ourselves, including mesh size and material thickness. You will get the sample back if you still need it.
- Dimensions and photo. Outside diameter, height, mesh size, material – plus a picture showing rim, bottom and grip.
- Drawing or data sheet. If documents from the original manufacturer are available, we work to them.
A clear statement up front: we are not a contractual partner of these manufacturers and do not supply original parts. What we supply is an accurately fitting replica from our workshop – with our material certificates.
Experience
Units for which we have already made replicas
Strainer elements and gaskets for Y strainers and basket-type strainers of various makes are part of our daily work – for example for strainers from ARI, KSB, Fromme, Samson or Sempell. The list is not exhaustive: what matters is not who built the unit, but whether we can get the dimensions. Valves without a nameplate and without documents are not an obstacle either.
The names are given here for reference: they indicate the units for which we manufacture replacements – not that we supply these companies or offer original parts.
Take the dimensions
On the removed part, with a calliper. Outside diameter and height to the millimetre; the photo shows everything else.
Clarify questions
We get in touch if anything is unclear – usually it concerns the design of the rim or the required mesh size.
Manufacture and inspect
Cutting, rolling, welding, fitting. Before dispatch, the part is measured, not estimated.
Faster next time
We keep the dimensions on file. For a repeat order, a reference to the earlier part is enough.
Our own ranges
And if the unit comes from us?
For our own ranges we supply spare parts permanently, even if the unit itself has been discontinued. This applies, for example, to our previous pot type strainer series: new units are no longer available, but we still manufacture replacement baskets and screens.
In that case, tell us the model and nominal size – we will find the design in our records.
Frequently asked questions
Common questions
For valves that are long past their warranty, this is usually not an issue. If the unit is still under warranty or is part of an inspected pressure installation, please clarify this beforehand with the person responsible for the plant – we supply the part with the documentation you need for this.
Yes. A test report 2.2 is standard; an inspection certificate 3.1 is possible – but this must be decided before manufacturing, because the material has to pass through the workshop with its certificate from the very beginning.
Yes, if you can take the dimensions. A sample is more reliable – it shows us things that no dimension states: how the rim is flanged, how the bottom was fitted, whether there was a handle (tab).
That depends on design and material. As a rule, the first element carries the set-up cost; every further one from the same batch is considerably cheaper. If you need an exchange element anyway, it is worth ordering two.
Gaskets, yes – we make them to the groove dimensions. Pressure gauges, ball valves and differential pressure indicators are bought-in parts – we can supply them as well if you tell us the connection thread and measuring range.

Enquire about a replica
Send us the old part, its dimensions or a photo. We will tell you whether we can replicate it – and if not, why not.
