Simplex strainer DN900 in welded carbon steel construction from our own manufacturing, prepared for transport in the workshop

About us

Strainers from our own manufacturing

Industriefabrik Schneider GmbH (IFS) builds industrial strainers, screens and line blinds for pipelines – from the wafer-type screen in DN15 to the temporary strainer in DN1000. We are a manufacturer, not a dealer: design, manufacturing, testing and documentation come from a single source.

This shapes how we work. Every unit is made for a specific operating situation – medium, pressure, temperature, installation point. Because we manufacture ourselves, deviations from the standard are not the exception but the norm.

What we do

Three focus areas

Strainer manufacturing is the core. Alongside it are two areas that come from the same workshop and process the same materials.

Stainless steel pot-shaped strainer from our own manufacturing – basket, simplex, duplex and T-type strainers and pipeline strainers, plus plant engineering and steel construction

Industrial strainers

Basket, duplex, simplex and T-type strainers, pot type and Y strainers. Welded design, designed to AD 2000 and the PED.

Screens and blinds

Witch hat and flat plate strainers, strainer gaskets, spade blinds, paddle spacers and spectacle blinds – catalogue goods with fixed dimensions.

Custom designs

What is not in the catalogue: different face-to-face lengths, special alloys, strainers for confined installation points, replicas made to sample.

Manufacturing

We do our own welding

The pressure-bearing parts are made in-house: housings, covers, flanges, nozzles. The company is qualified as a welding shop to DIN EN ISO 3834-3; manufacturing follows the AD 2000 code.

That is why a different face-to-face length or an additional nozzle is not a special exception for us. Anyone who buys in has to take what the catalogue offers. Anyone who manufactures in-house changes the drawing.

  • Housings and covers in stainless steel 1.4571, 1.4404 and 1.4301
  • Carbon steel versions in P235GH and P250GH, primed or painted
  • Flanges to DIN EN 1092-1, face-to-face lengths to EN 558-1
  • ANSI connections to ASME B16.5 on request
  • Strainer baskets and strainer elements from our own manufacturing

Consultation

From the operating situation to the unit

A strainer cannot be derived from an order number. Four details decide the design – and we proceed in this order.

1

Medium and operating data

Tell us what flows through the line, at what pressure and at what temperature. These determine the material and the gasket.

2

What is to be retained

Chips, rust, fibres, magnetite – this determines the mesh size and the design of the strainer element. This is where we advise most often.

3

The installation point

Nominal size, connection type, available space, installation position. Often it is only the space on site that decides which type is possible at all.

4

Certificates and delivery date

Which certificates are required and whether an acceptance inspection is planned must be settled before manufacturing – it cannot be done afterwards.

If any of these details is missing, we ask instead of guessing. A sketch or a photo of the installation point often helps us more than a completed form.

Quality

Tested before it leaves the works

Pressure-bearing assemblies are pressure tested with a report, valves are tested for leak tightness to EN 12266-1. Quality management is certified to DIN EN ISO 9001:2015.

Which certificates are supplied is agreed with the enquiry – from the inspection certificate 3.1 to the TÜV inspection of the open unit. What needs to be considered is described in detail on a separate page.

Certificates and approvals

What we are approved for

Two things must be distinguished: what the company demonstrates, and what is certified for the individual unit. This section covers the former – the certificates for the unit are defined for each order.

Certificates

  • DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 – quality management system
  • PED 2014/68/EU – Pressure Equipment Directive
  • AD 2000 code – safety of pressure vessels

Approvals

  • Welding shop to DIN EN ISO 3834-3
  • Manufacturer qualification to AD 2000 Merkblatt HP0
  • Module A2 of the Pressure Equipment Directive – internal production control plus supervised pressure equipment checks, notified body CE 0045
  • Module G of the Pressure Equipment Directive – unit verification

What else we manufacture

Strainer manufacturing is one division among several. The others work with the same materials and the same production. That is why we can also supply a strainer insulated, mounted on a skid or integrated into an assembly.

Ball valve with bracket, adapter, pneumatic actuator and limit switch during the modification and automation of an industrial valve

Valves and automation

Shut-off and control valves, actuators, modification of existing valves. This complements the fitted valves on the strainer.

Insulation jacket IFS-PLAST25 made to measure for high temperatures, removably fastened with straps and buckles

Insulation

Insulation jackets and insulation covers made to measure – also for strainer housings, removable for changing the screen.

Stainless steel pipelines with control valve and pressure gauge from pipeline and plant construction

Plant engineering and vessels

Skid systems, pipeline construction, pressure vessels. Here the strainer becomes part of a larger assembly.

Frequently asked questions

What customers want to know in advance

Manufacturer. We weld and test the pressure-bearing parts ourselves and do the design in-house. Standard parts and fitted valves and instruments are bought in – pressure gauges, shut-off valves, differential pressure indicators.

Yes. If a drawing or specification is available, we work to it. We also build replicas to sample when an existing unit is to be replaced and no documents are left.

The catalogue series start at DN15. At the upper end, the data sheet limit is DN300 to DN500, depending on the type – we have manufactured up to DN1000. We design larger nominal sizes on request.

Pressure equipment that falls under the Pressure Equipment Directive receives CE marking with a declaration of conformity. Equipment below the limits is manufactured in accordance with sound engineering practice and does not bear CE marking – this is not a defect but a requirement of the directive.

That depends on the type, the materials and whether an acceptance inspection is planned. A TÜV inspection has to be scheduled. We state the current delivery time with the quotation – it is the question we are asked most often.

Yes, also for other manufacturers’ strainers. We make strainer elements and replacement baskets to sample or to size, as well as gaskets. As a rule, a photo with dimensions is enough.
