Replacement
Strainer baskets and elements for basket-type strainers
In an industrial basket-type strainer, it is the screen that does the work, not the housing. It clogs, it tears at the seam, or it has become too coarse for a new task. What gets replaced are the strainer elements – the strainer stays where it is.
We manufacture strainer elements, strainer baskets and support baskets to size or to sample, for our own units as well as for strainers of other makes. Whether a stainless steel strainer basket, a replacement element or a multi-part element: we do not need an article number for this.
For which units
Basket-type strainers of all designs
This means strainers in which a basket or element is inserted into a housing from above and can be removed through a cover. Whether the unit comes from us makes no difference.
Basket strainer
The classic basket in a pot-shaped housing. Usually the complete element including fine mesh screen is replaced.
Simplex strainer
Compact design, often with a conical element. Here the screen sits more tightly in the housing – the seating has to be exactly right.
Duplex strainer
Two chambers, two elements. It makes sense to replace both together so that the service lives run in parallel.
T-type strainer and pipeline strainer
Cylindrical element in the run of the line. What matters is the length and the design of the seating at the cover.
Pot type strainer
We also continue to manufacture baskets and screens for our discontinued pot type strainer series – new units are no longer available for it.
Designs
What a strainer element can be
“Replacement screen” stands for very different parts. Which design is right depends on how finely the medium is filtered and how often cleaning is to take place.
Support basket with fine mesh screen
A perforated plate basket takes the forces, the fine wire mesh lies on the inside or outside. The most common design, because it filters finely and still withstands pressure.
One-piece perforated plate basket
For coarse retention. Robust, easy to clean, insensitive to knocks during removal.
Multi-part elements
A base basket with an exchangeable inner screen. If only the fine part wears, only that part is replaced.
Pleated wire mesh
More filter area in the same installation space. Useful when a plain screen clogs too quickly and the service life is not sufficient.
Perforation and wire mesh
Coarser is sometimes the better solution
A screen that has to be cleaned every two weeks is not a good screen. Often this is not due to the strainer but to a mesh size that was chosen finer than necessary.
With the replacement you can correct this: we supply the same design with a different perforation. The only condition is that the element retains what has to be retained. We discuss this beforehand.
- Round perforation for coarse retention and easy cleaning
- Wire mesh for fine particles, also multi-layer
- Slotted screens where fibres would catch in the mesh
- Combination of perforated plate and mesh overlay
Think ahead when replacing
What can be added with the new element
A replacement element is the opportunity to change something that was missing on the old part. Without any modification to the housing.
Magnetic rods in the basket
They retain ferritic abrasion that no wire mesh can capture – metal chips from pumps, scale from pipelines.
Grip or handle
Makes it easier to pull the element out of deep housings. On the old part it is often missing because it has broken off.
Different mesh size
Coarser if cleaning is needed too often. Finer if particles get through that should be retained.
Second set in stock
An exchange element shortens downtime: remove, insert the new one, clean the old part at leisure.
Four details are enough. Outside diameter, height, mesh size and material – taken from the old part. A photo also shows us the design of rim and bottom. How to take the dimensions is explained on the overview page: What we need for a replacement screen →
Frequently asked questions
Common questions
If the dimensions are right, yes. What matters is the outside diameter, the height and the design of the seating – that is, the rim with which the element sits in the housing. We take these three from the old part or from your details.
Yes. If only the inner screen is worn and the base basket is in order, we manufacture only the inner screen. Send both parts as a sample, then they will be sure to fit together.
That is the normal case in the replacement business. We replicate to size or to sample – more on the page Replacements for other makes.
That depends on the medium and on the cleaning. Mechanical failure is rare; what ends the life of elements is usually cleaning with unsuitable tools or a solid that abrades the wire mesh. Both can be countered with a sturdier design.
Yes – the support basket in which the bag hangs is a classic spare part. We supply the matching bag itself as well.
