Industrial strainers
from our own manufacturing
We build industrial strainers for liquid, viscous and gaseous media – from a single strainer housing to a strainer in a complete plant module. We manufacture our industrial filters in carbon steel or stainless steel, each to your process data. Whether liquid filter, gas filter or strainer for the pipeline: which type is right depends on the dirt load, the space available and whether the plant may be shut down for cleaning.
Types
various basic designs
Nominal sizes
DN10 to DN1000
Pressure ratings
PN6 to PN40, higher on request
Manufacturing
Design and welding in-house
Three questions decide the type
The first is the dirt load. If little dirt occurs, a Y strainer in the pipe is sufficient. If it increases, the pot-shaped design provides many times the screen area – basket or simplex strainer. Anyone who wants to clean rarely gains the most here.
The second is availability. If the plant must not stop for a screen change, it will be the duplex strainer: two chambers, one changeover unit, and the strainer element is cleaned while production continues.
The third is the installation space. In tight piping, the face-to-face length decides whether a strainer fits at all. There are three ways to deal with this: the T-type strainer for vertical and horizontal installation, the angle strainer with a 90° change of direction, and a special face-to-face length.
- Little dirt, narrow pipe: Y strainer
- Much dirt, long service life: basket or simplex strainer
- No downtime allowed: duplex strainer with changeover unit
- High temperature, little space: T-type strainer
- Hygienic cleaning without tools: pot type strainer
- Metallic particles: strainer basket with magnetic rods

Industrial strainers in eight basic designs
The order follows what is asked for most often in everyday practice. The data line gives the standard values – beyond that, we design on request.

In-house manufacturing
Strainer manufacturing: from single component to plant module
Strainer manufacturing from a single source
As a manufacturer of filtration equipment for industry, we cover the entire strainer manufacturing process: design, engineering, fabrication and testing. Industrial strainers in carbon steel and stainless steel therefore come from a single source. You have one contact person from the first question to the final inspection.
We manufacture every industrial strainer housing in carbon steel or stainless steel and test it before delivery. We supply the strainer as a single component, pre-assembled with mounted valves and instruments, or as an industrial filter system, complete in a plant module. Design, cutting, welding, surface finishing and testing are done in-house – which is why special dimensions are not a surcharge on a catalogue part but standard practice.
Anyone buying a strainer usually needs more than the strainer housing: isolating valves, differential pressure gauge, support legs, heating jacket, insulation, certificates. All of this comes from the same production and is described under Options → in detail.
Technical data
The limits of each type compared
The table shows the values for the standard design. Further nominal sizes, pressure ratings and temperature ranges are designed on request – for the basket strainer, for example, −200 to +450 °C.
| Type | Nominal size | Pressure rating | Temperature | Strainer element |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basket strainer | DN50 – DN1000 | PN6 – PN40 | −10 to +50 °C | Support basket 1.4301, fine mesh 1.4401 |
| Basket strainer, high-pressure design | by design | up to PN63 | by design | as basket strainer |
| Simplex strainer | DN50 – DN500 | PN6 – PN40 | −10 to +50 °C | Fine mesh 1.4401, mesh size 1 mm |
| Duplex strainer | DN50 – DN300 | PN6 – PN16 | −10 to +50 °C | Support basket 1.4301 |

Points of use
Where our strainers are used
The most common installation points are rarely in the main stream. The strainer is placed where the component that would suffer damage is located.
- Protection of heat exchangers
- Spray nozzle systems and descaling
- Lubricating oil systems and refining
- Boiler feed water and cooling towers
- Paper coating and irrigation systems
- Wastewater and sewage treatment plants
Industries
Who we build for
Power stations and district heating plants, the steel and paper industries, refineries, the textile industry, building services, food processing as well as wastewater and sewage treatment plants.
Tell us the process, not the article number
Medium, flow rate, pressure, temperature and the component to be protected – from this we design type, nominal size, mesh size and material. Drawings for every nominal size are available on request.
Frequently asked questions
That depends on three things: how much dirt occurs, whether the plant may be shut down for cleaning and how much space the piping leaves. With little dirt a Y strainer is sufficient, with a high dirt load the pot-shaped design provides more screen area, and if no downtime is possible, it will be the switchable duplex strainer.
Yes. The table gives the standard values; above and below them we design on request. The same applies to pressure ratings and temperature ranges – for the basket strainer, for example, −200 to +450 °C.
Both are pot-shaped strainers with a large screen area. The basket strainer covers the wider range of nominal sizes and works with a support basket and fine mesh; the simplex strainer is designed for DN50 to DN500 and has a fine mesh with a mesh size of 1 mm as standard. Which one is more economical depends on nominal size, pressure rating and filtration grade.
Yes. Replacement screens, gasket changes, fitting a differential pressure gauge or a drain, and even designing a heating jacket are possible on strainers supplied by others. Tell us the type and nominal size; for screens, the dimensions of the old part are sufficient.
Test report 2.2 and inspection certificate 3.1 to EN 10204, pressure test report, declaration of conformity to PED 2014/68/EU. What is included in detail is explained under Certificates and documentation.
